Introduction to the Plastic Theater of Lafayette...

We are the newest addition to a growing and exciting theater scene in Lafayette; our title stems from Tennessee William's demand for what he called a "plastic theater" in his introduction to The Glass Menagerie, by which he meant the use of what were then very new technologies: heavy use of music and slide projections.

We are very interested in new plays and new productions of mixed media plays, installations, and other hybrid forms of theater that use technology to create a kind of theatrical magic that reaches beyond the normative use of lights and sound and costumes, the theater which we already find comfortable. Rather, it's my hope that the Plastic Theater can push us to edge of our seats and into new ways of seeing the world.
